Day 01 – Airport / Colombo

Pick up from Bandaranayke International Airport transfer to the Galle Face Hotel. Check in at the hotel where you can have a rest.

Day 02 – Colombo / Anuradhapura

7.00a.m After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura the sacred ancient city founded in the 04th century B.C a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982. It has the largest number of ancient monuments of the great Sinhala civilization which flourished in this region. You will see some of the most famous as well as the tallest dagobas of Sri Lanka, Ruwanweliseya dagoba, 2nd century BC with its famous elephant walls and the 3rd century BC Thuparama dagobaRuins of ancient royal palaces specially the pillars of the Brazen Palace, which once had nine story’s, temples, the image of the Samadhi Buddha one of the finest pieces of Buddhist sculpture, monasteries, the twin ponds, guard stones and the moonstone. The ‘Sri Maha Bodhi’ or the sacred Bo tree is over 2200 years old grown from a branch of the very tree under which “The Buddha” attained enlightenment – the oldest historically documented tree in the world.

Day 03 – Anuradhapura / Jaffna

7.00a.m After breakfast leave for Jaffna. You will proceed on tour to Jaffna City. The Dutch Fort, Pannai Sea & Jetty and last kings pales.

Day 04 – Jaffna / Nilavarai

7.00a.m After breakfast visit the Bottomless well (Nilavarai) which has a large square well believed to be formed as tradition says from an arrow shot by Hanuman to satisfy thirst of Rama. This is famous as the depth unknown (bottomless) well.

Day 05 & Day 06 – Jaffna / Nilavarai / Trincomalee

7.00a.m After breakfast transfer to Trincomalee a port city on the east coast of the finest natural deep water harbor and of one of its kind in the world Trincomalee is also referred to as Gokauna or Gorkana in the old times. Stay 2 nights at Chaaya Blu Hotel, Trincomalee, when you can spend time under the warm sun, pristine white sand and get your feet wet or have a swim on the gentle waves slip softly to shore and a tropical heaven. Further you may also take the opportunity to visit Fort Federick and the Hot Springs. Also pay a visit to Lovers End aka Lovers Leap.

Day 07 – Trincomalee / Polonnaruwa

7.00a.m After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa, the remains of the Royal Citadel council chamber, prince’s bathing pool and the Gal Vihare, a stone temple with its colossal sculptures of the Buddha in a quiet grove of trees as well as the still functioning Parakrama Samudra, a man made reservoir, large than the Colombo harbor, are on easy distance from each other. The new museum has an excellent scale model of the ancient city as it was. En route to Polonnaruwa, visit The Minneriya National Park, and have an Elephant back safari surrounding Kandalama.

Day 08 – Polonnaruwa / Dambulla / Sigiriya

7.00a.m After breakfast leave for Dambulla, Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings found here are over 2,000 years old and is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

After Lunch leave for Sigiriya, Built in the 5 century AC this magnificent complex of geometrically laid gardens, pools, and fountains (still working today) as well as oldest surviving murals of maidens has been a palace of the King Kasyapa. Built on top of a 200m high rock, the entrance to the climb once has been through a lions head. Only the huge paws remain today. Half ways up the rock are beautifully drawn painted bare breast Maidens whose existence is still a mystery. Which should be the eighth wonder of the world, Sigiriaya, is a must see item in Sri Lanka. The occupation of the gigantic fortress ended when Kasyapa killed himself in a battle with his brother.

Day 09 & Day 10 – Sigiriya / Pinnawela / Matale / Kandy

At 7.30a.m. After breakfast leave for Pinnawela. Baby jumbos wondering around their cramped foster home or bottle fed and bathed by their human foster fathers at Pinnawela, about 90Km from Colombo towards Kandy is the home to some 60 or more elephant orphans. A place you will really enjoy and never forget. Most orphans are accustomed to their curious human visitors are harmless.

Leave for Matale Spice Garden if variety is the spice of life, the variety of spices hand-reared and harvested at Matale Spice Garden must be Sri Lanka’s immortal soul. Here you’ll find in abundance the great scents, tastes and medicines that made and make Sri Lanka famous. Stroll around the fragrant greenery and through the cardamom groves in the shade of huge tropical trees and give your sense of smell a new lease on life. Sniff, see and learn about nutmeg, pepper, cloves, curry, cinnamon and many
others at Matale, and experience the great riches of Sri Lanka’s cuisine and traditional Ayurveda therapy.

After lunch leave for Kandy located 488 meters above sea level, which consists of the last strong hold of the Sri Lankan Monarchy and the home to the Sacred Tooth Relic, via (visit) Botanical garden. After Lunch you are welcome to tour the city by visiting places such as the Hantanne Tea Factory Museum.

Day 11 & Day 12 – Kandy / Nuwara Eliya

At 7.30a.m. After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya in the morning, this is the heart of the Tea country located at an elevation of approximately 1980 meters in the central highs, which offer north tropical and cool mountain climate. In the nights the temperatures fall low enough to produce a frosty atmosphere. En route visit the Tea Plantation, Tea Factory and the Victoria golf club, Horton plains, world ends.

Day 13 & Day 14 – Nuwara Eliya / Yala

730a.m. after breakfast, from the hotel you can take a ride to have a closer experience with the wildlife. This Yala National Park is the 2nd largest and most visited national park in Sri Lanka. The place consists of a variety of wild animals and notable for its Elephants, Leopards, Colorful Birds and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 15 – Yala / Galle / Unawatuna

7.00a.m. after breakfast, leave for Galle. In this coastal town, situated 110 Km from Colombo the Dutch presence is still visible Galle was an ancient port and our first international commerce, and trade centre today, Galle is the bustling provincial capital and administrative centre of the South it is famous for its lovely Unawatuna Bay, where the sea is reef protected and therefore safe for swimming, the old Dutch ‘star’ fort (A world Heritage Site) covering 36 hectares, the well – preserved Groote Kerk church, Dutch government house, the new oriental Hotel (1684), old bell tower and a tide – based sewage –
system also introduced by the Dutch. In Galle they still make the Dutch ‘Pillow – lace’ and do fine ebony carving and Gem polishing.

Day 16 & Day 17 – Galle / Unawatuna / Hikkaduwa

At 7.30a.m. After breakfast leave for Hikkaduwa is a very popular beach destination just a few hours from Colombo on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka Tourists can enjoy days relaxing at the beach and dining on delicious Sri Lankan and western food. Fresh fish is the specialty. Glass bottom boats offer fantastic views of coral reefs just off shore. For thoses interested in diving, complete diving facilities are available.

Day 18 & Day 19 – Hikkaduwa / Bentota / Kosgoda

At 7.30a.m. After breakfast leave for Bentota, located in the South along with the eastern coasts of Sri Lanka home to some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches with the surf option in Sri Lanka Where you spend the rest of the day at the hotel.

After lunch leave for Kosgoda. Is famous for its turtle hatchery operated by the Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka It was established in 1981 to protect Sri Lanka’s turtles from extinction. The hatcheries pay fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the long sandy beach. Visitors are shown the huge tanks filled with new born but lively hatchlings. After being fed the hatchlings are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old. They are not always released during the safer
hours of darkness. Although October to April is the main laying season, some eggs can be found at Kosgoda throughout the year.

Day 20 – Bentota / Kosgoda / Colombo

At 7.30a.m After breakfast proceed to Colombo. Colombo is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka with a population of 1, 1 million. The Fort, in the very centre of the city, is where most of the colonial remnants mainly from the British era are to be found. Nearby Pettah is Colombo’s busiest and most traditional bazaar, mosaic of human activities and architectural memories.

Day 21 – Colombo / Airport
